Dionysos is a French pop band formed in 1993 in Valence, Drôme; they formed at their lycée. They perform songs in both French and English, and have released six studio albums. They are well known in France for their surrealism and eccentricity. Their first album, Happening Songs, was self-produced and with entirely English lyrics.

Dionysos (altgriechisch Διόνυσος Diónysos, latinisiert Dionysus) ist in der griechischen Götterwelt der Gott des Weines, der Freude, der Trauben, der Fruchtbarkeit, des Wahnsinns und der Ekstase (vergleiche die Dionysien).Er wurde von den Griechen und Römern wegen des Lärms, den sein Gefolge veranstaltete, zusätzlich Bromios („Lärmer“), Bacchus („Rufer“) oder Bakchos genannt.

Dionysos vit une adolescence mouvementée. Selon l’Iliade, il est d'abord poursuivi par Lycurgue, puis est fait prisonnier par des pirates tyrrhéniens qu'il transforme en dauphins, et auxquels il n'échappe qu'en réalisant d'effrayants prodiges (Hymnes homériques). Selon Euripide, Dionysos installe son culte en Lydie, en Phrygie, en Perse et en Asie, et ne vient en Grèce qu'ensuite [15].

The Winged Victory of Samothrace (or Nike of Samothrace) is a Parian marble sculpture now in the Louvre, Paris, France.It is believed to have been made about 190 BC. It was discovered in 1863. It commemorates Nike, the Greek victory in a sea battle near Samothrace.It stands 2.44 m high. The work presents a pose where violent motion and sudden stillness meet.
