Toimikauden alkaminen. Nykyisen perustuslain mukaan tasavallan presidentti ryhtyy toimeensa valitsemista seuraavan kuukauden ensimmäisenä päivänä. Vuosina 1919–2000 voimassa olleen hallitusmuodon mukaan presidentti astui toimeensa vaalia seuraavan maaliskuun 1. päivänä tai jos se sattui pyhäpäiväksi, sitä seuraavana arkipäivänä.
