How many properties are on the National Register of Historic Properties? There are more than one million properties on the National Register, 80,000 are listed by themselves. The rest of the properties are smaller "contributing properties" that are part of historic districts. Each year around 30,000 properties are added to the National Register as part of districts or through individual listings.

How do I find out if a property is National Register? For "Survey type", select pull-down option "National Register", then get to a search screen where you can find properties by county or title of property (in the "Historic name" field). These provide little information other than what the NRIS gives, but almost all have a digitized nomination form in PDF.

Is there a database of NRHP nominations and properties? There is a series of survey publications, produced a number of years ago, that documented the history of each community, then-existing NRHP listings, and potentially listable properties. There's also a state database of listed properties (including contributing properties in HDs) and a collection of information on pending nominations.
