Answer (1 of 19): It was not. Half of it’s territory was although, as parts of Lithuanian SSR, Ukrainian SSR and Belarussian SSR. Now those are independent countries. Polish People’s Republic (45–89) was a satellite state of the USSR and it’s forced ally. But not an SSR itself.
