The Epistle of James, usually referred to simply as James, is a Letter in the New Testament. The author identifies himself as "James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ", with "the earliest extant manuscripts of James usually dated to mid-to-late third century."

The Epistle of James is the most Jewish book in the NT. Except for two or three references to Christ, it would fit rather well in the OT. The life to which the epistle exhorts is that of a profoundly pious Jew who is fulfilling the law in every regard. Gospel, redemption, incarnation, and resurrection are not mentioned.

2022/1/4 · Author: The author of this epistle (letter) is James, also called James the Just, who is thought to be the brother of Jesus Christ ( Matthew 13:55; Mark 6:3 ). James was not a believer ( John 7:3-5) until after the resurrection ( Acts 1:14; 1 Corinthians 15:7; Galatians 1:19 ).
