2018/1/30 · The Labour Party was formed in 1900 as a coalition between trade unions and socialist intellectuals with the aim of securing representation for the working class in parliament.

Since 1922, Britain’s Labour Party has either formed the country’s Government or constituted the Official Opposition. The Party has been in power for just over a third of the period since the Second World War. In the most recent 2019 General Election, Labour won 202 out of 650 seats in the House of Commons, securing 32.2% of the popular vote.
