On September 29–30, 1938, the German, Italian, British, and French governments sign the Munich agreement in which Czechoslovakia is required to give up control of its borders and its defense capabilities (the so-called Sudeten region). The agreement was negotiated at a conference held in Munich, Germany, among the major powers of Europe, without the presence of Czechoslovakia. Today, it is widely regarded as a failed act of appeasement toward Germany. The agreement was signed in the early hours of 30 September 1938 (but dated 29 September).

2022/3/5 · Although Hitler demanded that Czechoslovakia cede the Sudetenland before September 28 or that war break out, the Munich Accords were not signed until September 30 at 1:30 a.m. .m.m, even though they were dated September 29. Hitler’s expansionist aims became clear in 1936 when his forces entered the Rhineland. Two years later, in March 1938, he annexed Austria.
