Le Bled el Djerid (pays des palmes) est une région du Bas Sahara, au Sud-Ouest de la Tunisie, comprenant un ensemble d’oasis situées sur la bordure nord-ouest du Chott du même nom, la plus grande des sebkha du Maghreb. Au Moyen Age, la région est appelée « pays de Qastîliya » dont la richesse a été vantée par de nombreux géographes arabes.
