Ei-ichi Negishi is the Herbert C. Brown Distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Purdue. He came to Purdue in 1966 as a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of the Late Herbert C. Brown, and published 33 papers with Prof. Brown up through the time that Prof. Brown was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1979.

May 24, 2019 · In May 2019, the Department of Chemistry celebrated Professor Ei-ichi Negishi’s more than 40 years of service to Purdue as a researcher, teacher, and mentor to 38 PhD students and 62 postdoctoral researchers. In honoring Dr. Negishi, Purdue President Mitch Daniels led a congratulatory toast to “achievement with humility, genius with gentility.”
