Inside the Monument, the environment is left to respond naturally to the disturbance.

The best view of the crater is from the Johnston Ridge Observatory which is at the end of Hwy 504. Both the observatory and the road are open for the season. The …

The best view of the crater is from the Johnston Ridge Observatory which is at the end of Hwy 504. Both the observatory and the road are open for the season. The other good view is from Windy Ridge but does not look into the crater and the roads to this view point are still closed. By late June they should be open but call (360) 449-7800 first as it was a heavy snow year.
