Is proven a word or is there something wrong with spell check I now use proved instead because I must admit I really don't know. I always "assumed" proven to be a regular word but spell check doesn't recognize it. :shrug:

Proven: as in valid, demonstrated. Synonyms: attested, authenticated, confirmed… Antonyms: conjectural, hypothetical, ideal… Find the right word.

This is what we call proof, but as you can see it is not an absolute, which the word “proof” implies and so the word is mostly avoided. Understand that any theory that we have the highest regards for (what you call “proven”) is only as good as its data.
