Peter the Great's Accomplishments. Peter the Great had established his ultimate goals as a leader and a Tsar at a young age. He had the same dream as Ivan the Terrible and it was to take over the Baltic coast so Peter had a place to sail of his ships.

What did Peter the Great accomplish? Peter the Great modernized Russia—which, at the start of his rule, had greatly lagged behind the Western countries—and transformed it into a major power. Through his numerous reforms, Russia made incredible progress in the development of its economy and trade, education, science and culture, and foreign policy .

Achievements. People will remember me as the man who single-handedly westernized Russia. I founded the city of St. Petersburg by conquering the lands around the Baltic Sea giving Russia much needed access to the sea. I will be known as one of Russia's greatest reformers because I led Russia out of the Dark ages and into the age of Enlightenment.

Government Achievements. During his reign, Peter, made tremendous changes for Russia's government compared to what it was before he was ruler, but he died leaving no lasting effects. He looked at the government in the same way that he looked at the military and the general domestic situation. He thought they were in need of a major reform.
