During the “Wars of the Three Kingdoms,” Sir George Buchanan commanded the Stirlingshire Regiment under David Leslie, on the side of the Scottish Covenanters or Royalists of King Charles II, against Oliver Cromwell’s “New Model Army.” He led the clan at the fateful Battle of Dunbar (3 September 1650).
