Which Modern Indo-Aryan language is the closest to Sanskrit?
SECUREwww.reddit.com/r/linguistics/comments/pz6l...As a person who has heard pretty much all the modern Indo-Aryan languages, I'd say it's Marathi. Bengali and Nepali are close at the heels. Spoken Hindustani is very far from Sanskrit. So is Punjabi. Literary Hindi on the other hand is quite close but not as much as Marathi.
