How long to spend in Chiang Rai?
To see all of the attractions in the city itself, I’d recommend 2 full days in Chiang Rai. If you are doing a tour that includes the Golden Triangle, this can be included into those two days – if not, you might want to add on another half-day to your time in Chiang Rai.

Is Chiang Mai a safe place to visit?
Generally speaking, Chiang Mai is a safe city, though there are some scammers and petty thieves. You better apply all possible precautious measures, just in case you stumble upon them. There is a great risk when it comes to transportation conditions in Chiang Mai.

Is Chiang Mai worth the trip?
Chiang Mai is definitely worth a visit but you are already embarking on a fairly hectic schedule. Adding Chiang Mai would make it very hectic and not do justice to the various destinations, particularly when you take into account travelling and transfers.
