    I noticed in a good number of recordings, multi-channel stereo sounded a bit too bright and ear-fatiguing compared to regular stereo which sounded more neutral and natural. It also explains why it sounded brighter going from 5.1 multi-channel stereo to 7.1 multi-channel stereo when I added rears.
