There were no known settlements of Ohlone people on this land at the time of Stanford’s purchases, although further research may reveal evidence of Native Americans living in the more remote areas of the foothills.

The Ohlone Indians, named Costanoan by early Spanish colonists, are a linguistic family who lived on the coast of central California . They originally lived in an area stretching from the San Francisco Bay southward to the lower Salinas Valley.

30/04/2018 · During the American period, they had to fight for their survival, and some scientists who studied Native American life considered the Ohlone to have disappeared. But they had never left. Today the Ohlone are still with us, and continue to maintain their traditions.
