Petroglyph National Monument protects a variety of cultural and natural resources including five volcanic cones, hundreds of archeological sites and an estimated 25,000 images carved by native peoples and early Spanish settlers. Many of the images are recognizable as animals, people, brands and crosses; others are more complex.

This 7,244-acre monument relies on a partnership between the National Park Service and the City of Albuquerque Open Space Division to protect its nearly 20,000 petroglyphs and provide recreational and educational opportunities to the public. Petroglyph National Park, Boca Negra Trail: one of two trails that are quite close to the visitor center. Easily located on a map, you will need a couple small bills to cover the honor system entry fee. Prudent footwear is important here. The rocks are volcanic in nature and will f*** you up if you're not careful.

11/07/2017 · Petroglyphs in Parowan Gap Canyon, North of Zion. Rock art fans should visit Parowan Gap Canyon — accessible from either Parowan or Cedar City. From Parowan, turn west on to 400 North and travel 10.5 miles to Parowan Gap Canyon. From Cedar City, take I-15 Exit 62 and follow the signs to get onto U-130.

Petroglyphs Provincial Park is a great day trip idea in the Peterborough area. Note that you won't be able to camp at this park. Park closes at 5pm and last cars are allowed in at 4:30 pm. I would recommend arriving by 2 pm at the latest to give yourself time to explore the Visitor's Centre, the Petroglyphs site, and do some hiking.
