    Riffle (anonymity network) - Wikipedia

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riffle_(anonymity_network)

Riffle is an anonymity network developed by researchers at MIT and EPFL as a response to the problems of the Tor network. Riffle employs a verifiable shuffle and a symmetric-key algorithm. Like Tor, it utilizes onion routing. According to MIT's Larry Hardesty, researchers at MIT and the Qatar

19/01/2022 · As we all know TOR has its limitations and the anonymity of the users can be broken. In come the Riffle Anonymity Network; a prototype developed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). In this article, we will learn about what Riffle is, how it works and how is it better than TOR?

Riffle consists of a small set of anonymity servers and a large number of users. It guarantees anonymity amongst all uncompromised clients as long as there exists at least one uncompromised server. Riffle uses a new hybrid verifiable shuffle technique and private information retrieval for bandwidth and computation-efficient anonymous communication.

16/07/2016 · Dubbed Riffle, the anonymity network promises to provide better security against situations when hackers introduce rogue servers on the network, a technique to which TOR is vulnerable. Riffle maintains users' privacy as long as at least one of its server remains safe.

How does the protocol guarantee, that the server owners are not hold legally accountable for providing possible criminal content? If I remember correctly, Tor provides additional measures to protect their "rendevous nodes" (nodes that connect client circuits to the circuit of a .onion-domain) from legal problems. How is this done in riffle?

12/07/2016 · Compromising the guard nodes would break the anonymity on the network. This is where MIT's Riffle has improved over Tor. Riffle shuffles the messages sent and received by each node in the mixnet. The shuffling of message order is why the network is called Riffle. This throws off machine learning algorithms that can analyse traffic movement.

20/07/2016 · A new protocol called Riffle was recently published [PDF] by researchers at MIT; it offers a different take on anonymity than that implemented by other projects. A Riffle network could be used to implement an anonymous but verifiable blogging or publishing platform: one in which the messages are visible to everyone, but the identity of all users remains hidden.

11/07/2016 · Like many anonymity systems, Riffle also uses a technique known as onion encryption; “Tor,” for instance, is an acronym for “the onion router.” With onion encryption, the sending computer wraps each message in several layers of encryption, using a public-key encryption system like those that safeguard most financial transactions online.
