Guildford to Godalming (5 Miles) This walk covers the southern part of the River Wey from the busy centre of Guildford the path soon takes on a rural nature. Near Shalford the path comes to the junction of the Wey and Arun Canal where you can take the Wey South Path or climb Chinthurst Hill.

River Wey walks: Weybridge to New Haw Lock. This walk follows the route of the last commercial barges on the Wey Navigations. The large Wey barges, owned by Stevens and Sons, transported grain from the Royal Docks in London to Coxes Mill in Addlestone until the late 1960s. Many local people remember seeing the barges going up and down the river.

River Wey walks: Dapdune Wharf to St Catherine's Walk along the River Wey from Dapdune Wharf to St Catherine’s and see how the river has cut through the North Downs making Guildford an important ‘gap town’ and experience some spectacular views along the way.

Published about 12 years ago by Dorset County Council the brochure contains details to make walking the river a more interesting experience. While the scenery isn't the sweeping landscapes you can find elsewhere in Surrey, the River Wey is stunning in a completely different way. The terrain is generally excellent, with only the occasional stretch implying a slight challenge in wetter conditions.
