Can i drive my rental car to this location from kihei
A:
Yes, absolutely. The road is paved as is the parking lot. There are two portapotties in the parking lot.

We did not get in the water at this beach. It wasn’t really conducive to going in at the time of day and with the waves. Sorry to not have an answer for you.

How calm is the water?
A:
There were consistent rolling waves hitting the shore. The beach is rocky and sharp. You would not want to get knocked down by the surf there. We wee there between 5-6:30 pm.

      What is Maui’s ‘Āhihi-kīna‘U reserve?The ‘Āhihi-Kīna‘u reserve is located on the southwest corner of the island of Maui and was the first designated Natural Area Reserve in 1973. The 1,238 acres contain marine ecosystems (807 submerged acres), rare and fragile anchialine ponds, and lava fields from the last eruption of Haleakala 200-500 years ago.

      How much does Ahihi Bay cost?Ahihi Bay is located about 5 miles outside of Kihei and about a mile from Big Beach (Makena Beach) along Makena Alanui Road. There are no showers and no lifeguard is on duty. There is a $5 non-resident fee per vehicle. The charge is used for upkeep, maintenance, infrastructure costs, and reserve protection projects.
