Many hostile workplaces are rife with offensive or demeaning language, such as:
- Epithets (Peter the Perfect, Cleo the Clueless, etc.),
- Slurs,
- Gross generalizations (“all women think that way,” “only a man would say that,” etc.),
- Bigoted jokes,
- Put-downs,
- Offensive nicknames, and
