    Perhaps an understanding of the historical context of the early post-war era would illustrate the reasoning why FRG politicians supported it. Yes, it is sickening in the context of German expansionism in the early 20th century, but for the West German politicians, they did this due to domestic and international concerns other than taking back the lands of the Weimar Republic.
