May 31, 2017 · An even better chess hustler is about at the 1100 level, and knows how to manipulate you into investing in his timeshare property after he loses. I played two at Washington Square Park (one is in my avatar). I got 1/2 but I should have won both- was really low on time in the first game and I am very bad at blitz.

2200-2300 is the absolute max and it's pretty rare, and these guys always also compete in tournaments from time to time. Probably the toughest hustler I played against were: Russian Paul Poe Clayton and I'd put Paul maybe at like 2250-2300 blitz, Poe like 2200, Clayton same. Most of them are in the 1300-1700 range I'd say.

The guys in the park absolutely are hustlers.
