1. Open the document in the Google Docs app on your phone.
2. Tap the pencil icon in the lower right to switch to edit mode.
3. Highlight words or text that you want to format superscript or subscript and click the formatting icon in the toolbar at the top.

You can follow these steps:

• Press Ctrl+F9. This inserts a pair of field braces within your document.
• Type "eq \a (1,2)" (without the quote marks). You should replace the 1 and 2 with the digits you want superscripted and subscripted, respectively.
• Press F9 to collapse the field and change to the field's results.

With this out of the way, here’s how to add superscripts and subscripts using the symbol feature:

1. On your PC, click on the Start menu and search for Word.
2. Click on the Word app or the Word document you need to add scripts from the results.
3. On the Word document, place the cursor on the part of the text where you need to add the superscript or subscript.
4. On the Ribbon of the Word document, click on Insert.
