The earlier inhabitants of the Greek mainland and islands were an agricultural people who, using Animism, assigned a spirit to every aspect of nature. Eventually, these spirits assumed human forms and entered the local mythology as gods, demigods or other mythological creatures.

Greek myths seemed so logical to the early man that they did not stir up disbelief, thus, believing that they held the answers to the world’s questions. As men’s curiosity grew, they thought of creation myths creating the answers they looked for. Things that were unexplainable suddenly made sense with these myths that involved gods, goddesses, and mythological creatures.
