What is x86 architecture and its difference between x64?
What is x86 architecture and its difference between x64?
What’s the differencebetweenx86 and x64? x86 predates x64 by twenty years. It was the standard architecture for older microprocessors and only supports up to 4 GB of RAM. x64 is the improved ISA that doubles the instruction capability of processors and allows for far greater hardware capacity.
How to determine if Windows is x64 or x86? Click Start, and then click Run. Type winmsd.exe, and then click OK. When System Summary is selected in the navigation pane, locate Processor under Item in the details pane. If the value that corresponds to Processor starts with x86,the computer is running a 32-bit version of Windows.
X86 is 32bit, X64 is 64bit. Your CPU is capable of handle either 32 or 64bit instruction. What determines the app version you need to install is the OS. If you are running a 64bit OS then install the x64 version of the app. If you are running a 32bit OS then install the x86. Just another little tidbit.
Similar to the x86, the x64, which is also called "x86-64" ( meaning x86-based 64-bit) is also a family of instruction set architecture for computer processors. But, x64 has 64-bit CPUs and an operating system rather than the 32-bit system which belongs to x86. It is officially known as Intel 64 and AMD 64 respectively from its manufacturers.

x64 extends x86's 8 general-purpose registers to be 64-bit, and adds 8 new 64-bit registers. The 64-bit registers have names beginning with "r", so for example the 64-bit extension of eax is called rax. The new registers are named r8 through r15. The lower 32 bits, 16 bits, and 8 bits of each register are directly addressable in operands. This incl...
