Rogell and starred Granville Owen as Li'l Abner and Martha O'Driscoll as Daisy Mae (see AFI Catalog of Feature Films, 1931-40). In 1971, NBC broadcast a one-hour television show based on the comic, directed by Gordon Wiles and starring Ray Young and Nancee Parkinson.

In this adaptation of the classic comic strip about Dogpatch, Daisy Mae intends to catch Li'l Abner on Sadie Hawkins Day, so he'll be forced to marry her. But before then, the small town learns it's been declared the most useless place in the country and will be used as an atomic test bomb site, unless they can prove their worth.
