- THE SCANDINAVIAN LETTERS Æ Ø Å are the extra 3 characters we Norwegians & Danish have at the end of our alphabet, and I always love hearing foregners trying to pronounce them as they appears quite regularly in our language. In Swedish they change them up slightly and have Å Ä Ö instead.
