        Fruitarianism is to veganism as Neptune is to planets. Fruitarianism is a more restrictive form of veganism. "The Health Promotion Program at Columbia University reports that a fruitarian diet can cause deficiencies" changed to "could possibly". Can vs. could is present tense verses past tense. As a current diet, "can" is appropriate.
