The cause. Hyperinflation isn't a curse that's been dropped on Zimbabwe from outer space. Rather, to any economist it's an obvious consequence of the decisions of the government and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe to print gobs and gobs of money. The quantity theory of money is the term for this explanation.
