De IJssel (Nedersaksisch: Iessel) of Geldersche IJssel (ter onderscheiding van de Hollandsche IJssel) is een Nederlandse aftakking van de Rijn. De rivier takt bij Westervoort (de IJsselkop) ten oosten van Arnhem af van de Rijn bij Kmr 878,6 en stroomt in noordoostelijke en later in noordelijke richting naar het Ketelmeer respectievelijk het IJsselmeer.
