    What does mutual intelligibility mean?
The article states that mutual intelligibility means "mutual intelligibility is a relationship between languages or dialects in which speakers of different but related varieties can readily understand each other without intentional study or special effort". The source that was cited clearly doesn't show this in my opinion.

Is there any reliable evidence for mutual intelligibility?
There is a lot of anecdotal evidence suggesting a fair degree of mutual intelligibility (and also some the other way around), but reliable evidence is somehow hard to dig up. Although anecdotal evidence need not be wrong, it does tend to be rather unreliable and therefore cannot be accepted. -- JorisvS ( talk) 22:35, 20 October 2014 (UTC)

Should mutual intelligibility be the primary criteria separating languages?
In a similar vein, some claim that mutual intelligibility is, ideally at least, the primary criterion separating languages from dialects. A primary challenge to these positions is that speakers of closely related languages can often communicate with each other effectively if they choose to do so.

What is the difference between mutual intelligibility and dialects?
Some linguists claim that mutual intelligibility is, ideally at least, the primary criterion separating languages from dialects. On the other hand, speakers of closely related languages can often communicate with each other; thus there are varying degrees of mutual intelligibility, and often other criteria are also used.
