The Children's Blizzard, also known as the Schoolchildren's Blizzard, School Children's Blizzard, or Schoolhouse Blizzard, was a severe blizzard that hit the U.S. plains states on January 12, 1888. Temperatures dropped from above freezing in many areas to well below zero in a matter of a few hours.
