The largest and the capital city of Belarus, as well as the administrative center of the region, Minsk (Мінск) is an old beautiful settlement situated in the central part of the country, on the banks of the Svislač River. The city was established in the 11th century and is a developing urban area. It is an important center of industry and manufacturing (including agricultural products, machinery, fabric, and cotton production.), as well as cultural and social life hub, with numerous museums, cathedrals, churches, theaters, colleges, and universities. Minsk National Airport is located about 40 kilometers to the east of the city center.
